Don is 55, an ex-Deputy Sheriff of some twenty-five years, whose first three novels have been published by Doubleday under the titles "Eleven Days," "Known Dead," and "The Big Thaw." He has just contracted for two more, and is going to begin work on the fourth one as soon as the promotional obligations of the summer are over.

Don sincerely believes that the best training for writing is reading, coupled with listening for the rhythms in dialogue.

Don lives with his wife Mary in rural Iowa.
